The Listening Compass

MATTHEW 13:9

“Let all those with ears, listen…”

Why the Listening Compass™

Discernment isn't a private habit. It's a shared spiritual practice — one that pulls families, youth groups, and classroom students together as they walk into a media culture built to target them.

Much of what reaches young people today — the screens, the platforms, the programming — was designed for profit, not for their well-being or the common good. The adults who watch over children and youth carry real responsibility here: to bring love and concern to how media is chosen and used, and to actively disciple the next generation in shared values — rather than leaving that discipleship to corporations that exploit the vulnerable for profit.

The Listening Compass™ is an antidote to that noise. Without an intentional practice for choosing the media we consume, create, or participate in, it's easy to be pulled from our core faith and values one distraction at a time. The spiritual practice of The Listening Compass™ keeps us intentionally close to God in this area of everyday life. This simple practice helps us learn what to choose as we watch, play, or create — with love and purpose. Everyday practice makes trust real between family members, youth groups, and students in your classroom. We've found that confusion about media fades away. We can learn to trust our children as they grow and have more and more access to media's landscape — which is exactly why we ask families, schools, and ministries to choose it.
